Italy is famously known for its healthy diet and lifestyle.  It is common to see elders well into their nineties biking into town, tending their gardens and running after their grandkids.  In fact, Italy is one of the world’s seven Blue Zones, or areas where people have low rates of chronic disease and live longer than anywhere else.

What is the secret to this longevity?

The Mediterranean Diet and Lifestyle is thought to be the reason for Italy’s healthy population and we are here to show you how it is done!  Dr. Michelle Qaqundah is an international expert in the Mediterranean Diet and Lifestyle and will be your host during this customized week-long wellness adventure.

The Mediterranean Diet

We will get our hands dirty in the kitchen together during our culinary classes while Dr. Qaqundah teaches you simple hacks to get the healthiest benefits of your ingredients.  You will learn Mediterranean recipes that can be applied in many different ways to maintain variability, creativity and the ability to follow the seasons.  Our private chef will provide the rest of your meals throughout the week with the exception of a few restaurant meals during excursions.  The menu for the week will be gourmet, fresh, healthy and reproducible.

The Mediterranean Lifestyle

We will live the Mediterranean Lifestyle incorporating the tenets of physical activity, rest and conviviality.

Fill your lungs with fresh sea air and your eyes with beauty as we walk along the rugged coast amongst the colorful villages of the Cinque Terre.  Enjoy the awe of the ages during a walking tour of historic Florence.  Feed your soul as you walk through the cobbled roads of the Tuscan town of Lucca, the birthplace of Puccini, and let your spirit soar during a live concert of his music.

Spa Day!

Rest in the same thermal waters as the Romans and the Medici at the Grand Duke of Tuscany’s historic luxury spa.  Enjoy massage at your villa then rest your bones poolside or in your private room.  Take a nap after lunch and be ready for your afternoon adventure!
